Council of Ministries

Ellen Jackson, Chairpersons

The Council of Ministries in our church serves the Lord as the programmatic arm of ministry.  The council consists of all of the “Work Areas” of the church, which includes Worship, Music & Arts, Missions, Education, Fellowship Class System and many more.

Ministry Meetings:  Monthly meetings will now be held quarterly on the first Monday of January, April, July and October. Ministry work areas will be grouped into sections.  These Ministry sections will meet as follows to review our schedule for the rest of the year, monitor the progress of the activities:

               Section 1:
Adult Ministries                        1st  Monday in February

Section 2:                  Education                                1st  Monday in May

Section 3:                  Evangelism,                             1st  Monday in June

Just A Sister Away                   1st  Monday in June

Missions                                  1st  Monday in June

Section 4:                  Music & Arts/GAD                    1st  Monday in November

Youth Ministry                          1st  Monday in November

Collectively we assist each other in tasks to be undertaken. With God’s help we have been successful and expect to continue.

Joining a ministry or group is a great way to glorify God and enjoy the fellowship that meeting new people with a common goal involves, as we build the Kingdom for Jesus. Contact us for more information.

EXECUTIVE LEADERS IN MINISTRY

ELIM.jpg

Executive Leaders In Ministry (ELIM), a model, based on the biblical principles of leadership outlined in the book of Ezra, calls for integrity and accountability.  The role of officer has been elevated in the life of SGUMC as an extension of the priesthood- a Holy Officer.   As explained in the book of Ezra, the role of Holy Officer is defined as follows:

The Holy Officer is an extension of the royal priesthood who stands in the gap.
The Holy Officer is a servant who understands that serving is a noble privilege.
The Holy Officer is a joint heir with Christ, a co-laborer in kingdom Building.

The Holy Officers are all the members of the Trustees, Finance, and SPPRC committees, Lay Leaders, Chairpersons of COM, the Business Admin., the Recording Secretary, and Leaders in Ministry.
