Lenten Devotional 2022 ● Day Three

Answering the Trumpet’s Call

Once again, the command is given: "Blow the trumpet in Zion." But, while the words of this order are the same as before (see Joel 2:1), the trumpet's sound in this instance will be notably different. This day, the call is not a warning; it is not a pronouncement of impending destruction. Today's call is to the entire community. “Come! Gather! Let everyone of every age enter this sacred assembly.” On this occasion, all are included… all are to be present. Young and old, bridegroom and bride, priests and all who minister; even babes with no understanding… those who have yet to be weaned, are to be present in this assembly. The people are to fast and pray seeking God’s forgiveness and grace that the Lord might spare Zion from destruction and shame.

Today, Let Us lift-up prayers for our community. Let Us lift-up prayers for the nations and all God’s lands. Let Us seek the face of God as we go before the Lord in fasting and prayer. Let Us pray for the welfare of all people… for all are created in the image and likeness of God. Let Us humble ourselves before the Lord our God, and pray that God would cause war, famine, and all manner of evil to cease.

Let Us Pray

NOTE: As you pray to the Lord on today, submit your heart to God. Listen for the will of God to be made known to you. Once again, conclude your prayer praying the ASH WEDNESDAY 2022 PRAYER/CONFESSION found on our website at www.sgumcny.org
